A thief who entered a vehicle in Wyandotte stole some loose change, but also left behind a sharp item that was potentially dangerous.
The incident, which occurred in the 1600 block of 19th Street, was reported to police on April 11. A resident told an officer that someone rummaged through his vehicle overnight.
One sign that a person had been in the vehicle was a hypodermic needle on the driver’s seat, believed to have been dropped by the thief.
The reporting officer confiscated the needle and thoroughly checked the car to ensure that it was safe for the owner.
Police said it appeared that the thief entered the unlocked vehicle and stole several dollars in quarters.
