Miracle moment: Community releases purple balloons in memory of Miracle League player | WTVC

As the National Anthem played over the loudspeakers at the Miracle Field in Chattanooga, dozens of people gathered there all holding purple balloons in honor of Megan Neal's life.

Two weeks before she was born, doctors discovered the left side of Megan’s heart didn’t develop.

She would go on to have three open heart surgeries before she was three.

The first one was when she was just five days old.

For Megan, it didn’t end there.

That was followed by extreme and intense therapy for Megan.

Then she found the Miracle League.

She and her dad rarely missed a game.

The year she started playing, she met Coach Boz. They were instant buddies.

One day during a game Boz Del Mundo asked Megan if she could do anything she wanted to do, what would it be?

They didn’t go skydiving.

But they did go hang gliding which was the next best thing.

For these two, it was always an adventure.

Megan was incredibly strong and bold and courageous.

Last year her body started to fail her. She never recovered.

And that is why so many people gathered at the Miracle Field with purple balloons.

Air Balloon To let them go and fly away close to Heaven to be near Megan, because purple was Megan’s favorite color.
