Spring is right around the corner, which can only mean one thing: you're probably itching to make some changes. Maybe not the drastic "upend your life before daylight savings time ends" kind of changes, but smaller, more subtle tweaks to welcome the upcoming season. One of our favorite things to do when we feel the urge to switch things up is to make slight upgrades to our beauty routines. The easiest way to do this? Switching up our manicures and opting for fun spring nail polish colors.
While nails are typically one of the last areas of a beauty routine to be addressed, the right polish shade can have mood-boosting abilities. Getting a manicure is one of the easiest ways to add some variation to your routine, and the process of deciding our color palette for the next few days is so deeply satisfying — it's also the perfect high-maintenance to be low-maintenance hack. The color red has been trending over the past few months, so it should come as no surprise that cherry red is a shade that you'll be seeing everywhere this spring. "It's bold and sexy," Erica De Los Santos, nail artist and owner of Nailed It Beauty Lounge, tells POPSUGAR of the shade. "It's not too dark but is definitely a transitional color for those not yet ready to jump fully into a softer spring palette."
Without it, the color red packs a punch, as evidenced by this gorgeous single-color manicure.
"Pale yellow will be trending because of its light elegance," De Los Santos says. "Just as the sun makes us jump for joy, so does this color. It pairs great with sunflower designs or prints."
French manicures are another classic design that feel particularly playful when paired with your favorite spring nail polish color.
Pink is a classic spring nail polish color and it's perfect for minimalists and maximalists alike. You can thank the "Barbie" movie for this trending color. "From bright, bold hues to colors that are more simple and light, this is a shade that can brighten up anyone's day and is therefore perfect for the light, playful ambiance that spring brings," says De Los Santos.
Crystals can take any beauty look up a notch, but they're particularly fun to see in manicures. Use them to create abstract shapes like the divided butterfly seen here.
Pink is typically the color that people opt for when they want something soft and approachable, but lilac is another shade that you should consider. "Pale purples are delicate hues that pair great with floral designs," De Los Santos says. If you're a lover of nail art, use the color to accent your designs to make them really stand out.
