MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WIFI review New MAG X670E Tomahawk Wifi Motherboard with Powerful Features Polyimide Flex Pcb
MSI has launched its latest motherboard, the MAG X670E Tomahawk Wifi, which promises to be an attractive option with its competitive price point. MSI is a well-known brand among PC DIY enthusiasts, with its MEG, MPG, and MAG series catering to gamers with different budgets and preferences. The latest addition to the MSI MAG series is the MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi motherboard, which is targeted towards budget-conscious gamers. Although the company has not revealed the exact amount, we can estimate the suggested retail price to be around $319 or €329 including VAT. While still a lot of money, it's far away from 500-600 USD prices we see these days, and this is an enthusiast class motherboard.
Out of the complete Ryzen 7000 series, the X670E chipset is the most premium and feature-rich. These new motherboards are set up to provide the best of the best in terms of performance and connectivity. They are designed for extreme overclocking and support for widespread PCI-E 5.0. The X670E chipset is designed to be paired with high-end hardware because it supports PCI-E Gen 5 SSDs and GPUs, as opposed to SSD-only support on cheaper boards. The motherboard boasts an 8-layer PCB, two 8-pin power plugs, and a 14+2+1 power supply with 80A phases, ensuring sufficient power to run the CPU. The four DDR5 dimm slots can support up to 128 GB of memory and speeds of up to 6,600 MT/s. As an X670E board, the primary m.2 slot and top PCIe x16 slot use PCIe 5.0, delivering lightning-fast data transfer rates. The primary m.2 slot also features a cooling system that covers both sides of the SSD. The top heatsink of the next two PCIe 4.0 slots provides cooling, while the fourth m.2 slot does not come with a heatsink. The motherboard also features two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots (x4 and x2), a single PCIe 3.0 x1 connector, and four SATA 3 ports. The i/o is packed with features, including four USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-A ports, three 10Gbps ports (one of which is type-C), and an additional type-C port with speeds of up to 20 Gbps. For audio, there are five 3.5mm connections and an S/PDIF port. The motherboard also comes with an HDMI 2.1 port and a DisplayPort 1.4 connector placed alongside the BIOS flash button. For networking, there is a 2.5 Gb Ethernet port, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. With a price tag of under $329, the MAG X670E is one of the most affordable motherboards featuring the X670E chipset from MSI.
